As stop 22 came to a close in Torrington, Ct. we were treated with a wonderful fun filled street fair. Air Gym, dunking booth, bean bag toss, dart toss, a great band and not to mention fantastic food. But the event that got an encore was the Puppeteers. What a neat ministry these kids provide. I wish we could have shown the whole video. It was so hard to cut it down to blog size.
The day was pretty hectic. We began our journey at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, the oldest Spanish speaking church in NYC. They run a food pantry their, and a group was gathered watching our video while we rode in. They were quite surprised. We then headed to Westchester. On the way we got separated from Bobby and the van as he was ‘temporarily misplaced’. An hour and a half later were were reunited Lutheran Church of the Incarnation. We grabbed a quick lunch and were off to St. paul Lutheran Church in Torrington.
The people we met have been so generous, so caring and so thoughtful. We are given so much energy from the people we meet, so much hope for the future. This is what keeps us going and motivated.
I especially want to thank Adam and Roger for filling in for Ron and David.
They have kept the ride alive. Thanks guys.
Rev Ron will rejoin us on Monday, as he returns from being with his daughter during her surgery. She is recovering well and we give thanks.
David will rejoin us on Thursday. His wife has been released from the hospital and we pray fro her recovery as well.
This has been a high stress time for my colleagues in ministry and the TdR, and my prayers are with them and their families. I am so grateful for all of those who have agreed to give their time and talents to be on call as reserve riders and support team, without them this ride could not happen.
Tomorrow we are off to Worcester, Mass. Let’s pray for good weather and safe travels.
